Newborn helpful hints

Communicating with babies before they can actually speak is a possibility. You just need to read the signs. For example if they want to play and socialize they will do the following, lift their head to face you, gaze straight into your eyes, reach out to you with their arms, smile, show bright eyes and alertness. All these messages indicate that your baby wants to interact and enjoy time with you. This is usually a perfect time for baby to pay attention to games. When your baby has had enough with playing and wants a break they usually look away, yawn, frown, pull at their ears, put their hands in their mouth or rub their head. This is when you know they may be ready for a feed or sleep. Just like adults, babies need a break too. When they are overstimulated, overwhelmed or distressed they require assistance in calming down and having a rest. Watch out for signs like, turning their head away, flapping their arms around, arching their back, showing a sad face, fussing or crying. The bab...

Keepsakes and Collectibles – Capturing all things Cute

Image
From the minute my daughter and I saw them we became addicted. Just can’t get enough of them, finding ridiculous reasons to seek out more and more, knowing this obsession is crazy, expensive and childish – but we’re hooked! Yep, those darn Coles Mini Collectibles are doing my head and my wallet in, but that $30 tiny cardboard Weetbix box is just so cute! While this is the best marketing venture I’ve witnessed since ‘Not Happy Jan’ became a catchphrase, there is something to be considered as to why we are drawn to all things cute, regardless of how senseless they may be in our rational mind. At Baby Made  we are also in the business of cute, our baby and pregnancy keepsakes of baby hands and feet  detailing and all those tiny little wrinkles are ever popular with new parents, capturing those all important early days of childhood as lasting mementos. I guess it’s about creating memories that last long after the baby is no longer a baby, or my daughter and I have forgotten about ...

The past, the present and the future

Have you ever wondered about the generations. What are they? Which generation am I? How do they differ over the years? There are the baby boomers, generation X, generation Y and generation Z. The baby boomers were born 1946-1964. They were born after World War II when there was a spike in births hence the name. They were born with black & white TV’s, listening to Elvis and The Beatles and being influenced by leaders such as, JFK and Martin Luther King. This generation value relationships and spending time with family and friends. They are goal focused who believe in hard work and pushing themselves to reach their potential and make a difference. Baby boomers are also self-reliant and have learnt to fix and do things themselves. Baby boomers are the first generation on the planet to get to age 60 and still see a long road ahead. Next came generation X. They were born 1965-1980. Gen X grew up with the fall of the Berlin Wall, Live Aid, MTV, microwaves and the commencement of the fitn...

Tatts just for you, Baby!

Image
I read recently that the increase or  trend of people adorning themselves with tattoo’s here, there and everywhere these days may have a possible correlation with the current way of the modern world and our addiction to smart phones and technology. The article went on to explain that the less we communicate verbally with each other the more compelled we seem to be to communicate non-verbally. Tattoos for many people tell their story, who they are, the people they are connected to, as well as their affiliations, such as a footy team or favourite musician. Tattoos also serve as reminders of life-moments or events, the loss of a loved one, the birth of a child or perhaps those that come along on the path of life that left their footprints on the heart. Being in the business of baby keepsakes , you wouldn’t think Baby Made would have much involvement in the world of tattoos, but actually more and more people are buying our Baby Inkless Print Kit to take detailed hand or foot...

Belly casting is the newest way to get a physical representation of the whole baby bump while the baby is growing in the womb.  Merchandise Doting grandparents would appreciate baby castings as a present. Many grandparents are unable to see their grandchildren on a regular basis, so having a reminder of them in the form of a casting can be a welcome change as compared to just a snapshot.
